SAVE ALLEN’S.
SAVE LIVES.
Right now, Allen’s Family Counseling Center is standing at a heartbreaking crossroads.
After years of quietly and compassionately serving Chicago’s most vulnerable—we are now fighting to survive. The weight has become too heavy to carry alone.
We’ve never had million-dollar grants or flashy PR campaigns. What we’ve had are souls in crisis—and the heart to show up for them, every single time.
We’ve had:
The single mother, running for her life with a baby in her arms and bruises on her body.
The veteran, sobbing silently in our waiting room, too ashamed to ask for help.
The child, traumatized by neighborhood gunfire, who’s afraid to sleep at night.
The teen girl, trafficked by someone who once told her she was beautiful.
The ex-offender, fresh out of prison, desperate not to return to the life that nearly destroyed him.
The 1AM caller, battling suicidal thoughts and needing someone to remind them that life is still worth living.
The addict with six days clean, panicking in the dark because the urge is back—and if no one picks up the phone, he may rob someone just to use again.
And we’ve had all the others—the homeless, the elderly, the grieving, the mentally ill—people with nowhere else to go.
We show up early. We stay late. We answer calls in the middle of the night. We meet people on the edge and bring them back.
But now—we may be the ones falling off the edge. CLICK HERE TO HELP!
Our building is officially for sale, and we must begin the relocation process.
Staff layoffs are imminent.
Rising costs in labor, rent, and supplies are swallowing our ability to function.
And to make matters worse:
The State of Illinois has just implemented costly new care regulations that increase the burden on all mental health providers.
Insurance companies and Medicaid are now taking even longer to pay, due to new federal review processes.
We are doing everything right—and still being pushed out.
We need to raise $200,000 immediately—just to survive.
These funds will allow us to continue offering:
24/7 access to a live counselor
Free and low-cost therapy
Specialized trauma care for abuse survivors, veterans, and those in addiction recovery
Grief, anxiety, and recovery support groups
Narcan training for nightlife and hospitality professionals
Prevention-focused programs that keep crime and crisis off the streets before they begin
Without Allen’s, these services disappear. And so does the safety net that holds up hundreds of individuals and families in crisis. DONATE NOW!
Let’s be clear: if we close, people won’t just be left untreated.
They will be left vulnerable, unstable, and in the shadows of a system that failed them.
That means more addiction.
More untreated mental illness.
More crime.
More trauma.
More loss.
We exist to intervene before lives unravel. We reach the people others are too late to reach. But we can’t keep doing it without your help.
Small community-based centers like ours are disappearing all over Illinois. The big organizations with giant infrastructure get the grants, while the boots-on-the-ground teams—the ones actually doing the work—get overlooked.
But we are not invisible. We are essential.
If you’ve ever wondered if your donation could actually save lives—this is that moment.
Every single dollar matters. Every moment counts.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today to help us remain the safe haven our city so desperately needs.
P.S. The truth is simple: when we disappear, the streets feel it. Addiction and untreated mental illness don’t go away—they just go public. Help us stop the cycle before it begins.
